Challenge
The membrane modules are the heart of the separation process, they allow an efficient process. All demands must be fulfilled for this. One critical point is cleaning, here the pH value must be strictly monitored. The membranes are made of polymer or ceramic. Cleaning process varies depending on the material. Polymer membranes have special requirements in terms of temperature and chemicals. Ceramic membranes are cleaned with a caustic solution.
Our solution
The CPS77E is used to monitor the pH value. In the plant sections fitted with polymer membranes, the sensor is installed in-line and cleaned during the cleaning process. The ceramic sensors are installed with a retractable assembly to protect the sensor from cleaning with caustic solution. The sensor is cleaned in the laboratory. In both cases, the pH is reliably monitored throughout the process so that damage to the membranes is avoided and the separation process proceeds as desired.
